William P. Murphy (judge)
William P. Murphy (July 6, 1898 – April 22, 1986) was an American jurist.
Born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, Murphy graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He then received his law degree from St. Paul College of Law. He practiced law in St. Cloud and Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was the attorney for the Capital Trust Company, an assistant United States attorney, and the regional enforcement director for the Office of Price Stabilization. Murphy served on the Minnesota Supreme Court from 1955 to 1972. In 1975, the Security and Exchange Commission appointed Murphy a special agent to assess allegations of secret corporation contributions to the reelection campaign of President Richard M. Nixon.
